a blessing…
What a blessing it was to see old friends this weekend! Karl and I enjoyed a wonderful (CHEAP) breakfast in York Saturday morning with some of my closest friends from high school. It was fun hearing everyone’s news from the past few years. And while we may not all have kept in touch so well… it was like picking up where we all left off 5 years ago in 2002. I love having friends like that! It was so great to see them all! In other news… hmmm… we’re back in Williamsport and busy as usual. We started the morning early because Karl was a part of the Taize worship in all the services today at church. I accompanied the “Little Lights” (the REALLY little kids choir) at the 9:30 service and also helped with the Taize worship at the 11:00 service. So it was a pretty full morning. Then my parents came to town… and yes we did just come from their place yesterday… they just can’t get enough of Rufus! That and they offered to help us with some house stuff today and tomorrow, so we took them up on it! Mom made some amazing pork medallions in a raspberry marinade for dinner tonight. Yum! And tomorrow…. broccoli soup! I’m quite excited for that. Tomorrow will consist of some more housework with my parents, some practicing on my piano (yes MY piano which has been moved into the music room finally!) and some preparing for Bible Study. I’m looking forward to a Monday of not going in to Roosevelt to accompany Nate’s choirs. We’ll see how much I can get done around the house tomorrow with my parent’s help. Fun Stuff…

simplicity strikes…
So when ever I come to Dover to visit my parents I feel very simple. Maybe it’s really “boredom”… but I don’t mind it as much as say Karl does. I guess there’s also a sense of relaxation… I’m away from my own house and don’t feel as busy as I normally would. I’m liking this Thanksgiving vacation already! Thanksgiving will be a little different this year. We’ll be headed up to my parents’ church where they’ll be serving dinner to around 50 people. It sounds like a bunch of people in the community that don’t have family to be with or maybe the money to make a big meal will be there, as well as church folk that don’t have any family around and then those of us helping. I think it sounds fantastic and what a wonderful way to reach out to people in the community! And have one HUGE Thanksgiving! My grandmother and uncle will be in town with us, so it will be great to see them and then my brother and sister-in-law will join us for our Lasagna dinner at home tonight. Yum! I’m quite excited for my time in Dover… especially Saturday when Karl and I get to see a crew of my friends from high school! There’s a few of them that it’s been years since I’ve seen them…. years! So that’s the excitement. We’ll be back in Williamsport Saturday afternoon.

house warming…
Thanks to all those who stopped by and helped to warm our house
It was a fun night and it really got us moving on getting the place looking better… except for the one bedroom that is FULL of our stuff! We’ve moved all of our big items (minus one awful couch) so it’s starting to feel like our place with our stuff in it.
The fall has gone quickly for me… honestly I can’t believe Thanksgiving is coming up so soon! And then after that… Christmas!
Updates on house fixins
Carpet is now up in master bedroom, living room, dining room and the music room (thanks to Jon and Emily Smock!)
The roof has been fixed hopefully that means no more leaks
The master bath is looking much cleaner as is the toilet in the downstairs 1/2 bath
New paint is gracing the walls of the master bedroom and music room
And the kitchen has tons more room now that the ugly pantry is gone!
Upcoming house fixins
The music room and laundry room are getting the floors worked on tomorrow (at no cost to us)
Eventually (hopefully Dec-Jan) we’ll get the hardwood floors downstairs refinished
A new wall over the existing bad pantry wall
Paint in the kitchen and dining room
And tons more!

I know I’m lame for not posting on here more often… but just an update. Tonight is our first night in the new house! We’re QUITE excited!
